Video Podcasting-21st Century Publishing
In this hands-on workshop, each participant will discover how their new Flip Video camera can turn podcasting into an effective tool for engaging students with multimedia, empowering creative expression, assessing mastery of the standards, and developing a stronger home-school connection. Video podcast creation integrates writing, reading, and speaking skills in any curricular area. Students will be more engaged and motivated because they are creating content for a purpose, to speak to a broader audience.
Participants will also be provided with an introduction to the following programs that aid in the creation of podcasts:

What is Podcasting?
A podcast is a series of audio or video digital-media files which is distributed over the Internet by syndicated download, through Web feeds, to portable media players and personal computers. Creating Podcasts
Preparation is key if you want your podcast to remain relevant for some time.
Pre-Planning Stage
Create a checklist of shots that need to be taken so that you (or your students) don't forget to take any.
Recording Stage
Post-Production Stage
This will be necessary for uploading your video to a podcasting site. The Flip camera records to the .AVIfile format which need conversion so that iTunes can read the file. NOTE: This is not necessary if you just want to upload videos to YouTube, SchoolTube, etc.
Web-based (Upload and then download the converted file after a few minutes)
Freeware that you can download and install (PC only)
Examples: YouTube, TeacherTube, Vimeo, Flickr (Up to 90 seconds with a Pro account).

Windows Movie Maker is video creating/editing software bundled with the Microsoft Windows operating system since Windows Me. It contains features such as effects, transitions, titles/credits, audio track, timeline narration, and Auto Movie. New effects and transitions can be made and existing ones can be modified using XML code.
